EUserv Internet provides database system MariaDB and additional MySQL versions for hostings
Jena, 25 February 2019: In addition to the existing MySQL database system, EUserv Internet now also offers its Fork MariaDB in version 10.3 for all database-capable hosting plans. In addition MySQL 5.7 and 8.0 are now also available in the EUserv customer panel for creating new databases in addition to the existing MySQL versions.
MySQL and the Fork MariaDB are two of the most popular and powerful open source databases and run with almost every Linux distribution as a standard installation. Both systems are based on the same software kernel and are almost identical in handling by the underlying SQL database language. Some minor differences regarding usable features and extensions may appear between MariaDB and mySQL.
By providing these additional database systems and versions, EUserv enables its customers to take advantage of new features. Current content management systems (CMS) such as Wordpress, Joomla, Magento or Drupal can be migrated to the new versions if one of these new database versions is required for operation.
Users with a hosting account can select the desired version in Euserv customer panel via a dropdown menu. Parallel operation of individual databases in different backend versions is possible, for example, for deployments of test environments.
